Doris Schwartz, 22, has made the brave step of letting her family know her secret.
“I’ve worked as a professional dominatrix for the past two years, a BDSM phone sex operator, and I’ve lived a 24/7 M/s lifestyle with my slave, all while living at my parent’s home. They were always open and supportive and I told them everything that I did,” the Korean American sex worker joked with The Daily Flogger. “They had a great outlook about it, but I wasn’t sure how to share my real secret, the thing I have been hiding for years.”
Last week, Schwartz sat her parents down and told them face to face: “Mom. Dad. I am Asian.”
At first, Schwartz reports that there was silence, followed by a lot of tears, but ultimately support.
“I had to look in the mirror everyday and know I was living a lie. I couldn’t feel good about myself until I came out to them. It hasn’t been easy,” says Schwartz.
“You play the cards you are dealt,” says Herman Schwartz, Doris’s father. “We don’t judge her for her kink or being poly or queer. Those are things you are born with, but its hard to accept the Asian thing, because it’s a choice.”
Mrs. Schwartz was short with her response, “It’s all such a shock. We love her, even if we don’t approve of her choice to identify ethnically in a way that cuts us to the core of who we are and what we believe in.”
Once out to her family, Schwartz decided to make the announcement public on the “Kinky and Proud” podcast.
Melissa Monrovian, host of the program asked Schwartz, “Why now? And why Asian?”
After a long silence, Schwartz responded. “Because it’s who I am.”
